Tiger’s Nest Monastery
Bhutan's most recognizable landmark is (Taktsang Goemba, Takhtsang Lakhang, Paro Taktshang), which was initially constructed in 1692. Standing 900 meters above the Paro Valley on a cliff face, it is recognized as a piece of global cultural heritage. Legend has it that the Buddhist guru Guru Rinpoche spent three years, three months, and three days in a cave, where he meditated, after riding a tigress to the monastery's present location. It is currently among the most popular tourist destinations in Bhutan and a revered holy place that every Bhutanese person should visit at least once in their lives.
